This Week I Don't Feel Like Doing Anything...Nothing At All

House in PGA Golf Glub @ Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
Being a self-proclaimed vacation aficionado isn't always easy. Between being a husband, being a father, being a full-time network engineer, making youtube videos, making podcasts, creating, curating content for RealCruisers, and answering messages...I'm beat. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about any of it. I love (most of) the things that I do. Luckily, my parents arranged for the whole family to get together and get some R&R in a luxury house in the PGA Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. So this week, I don't feel like doing anything...and I really don't have to. My family that was once very close, has drifted apart over the years and it's actually a rare occasion when all the siblings and my parents are all under one roof. It's refreshing to be able to spend time with everyone, cook together, eat together, and laugh together.

The point of vacation is to be able to get away from it all. Unfortunately, I don't detach from everything so easily (even if I want to). As a network engineer consultant, I've recently been helping a new customer that may or may not decide to use our company for IT support. I've just started learning their environment and had to leave it in the hands of a coworker while I'm away. He's a very capable engineer, but my nerves are still a mess worrying that something bad will happen while I'm away and the customer will decide not to sign a contract with our company. So instead of ignoring my phone, I'm still checking my emails multiple times per day and even made a call from the beach. Due to some weirdness in our company, I was sent an email telling me that I needed to call a customer this week to setup an appointment for next week. I know that wouldn't take long, but I don't want to. Surely I'm not the only person at our company that could setup the appointment.

Carnival Cruise Lines Headquarters

I've had a desire to have my picture taken in front of Carnival Cruise Lines headquarters in Doral, Florida. Being this close to Doral, it only made sense to drive on down and look super touristy while I posed for some selfies in front of their sign. I drove an hour and a half (each way), paid tolls, parked in a tow-away zone, and technically loitered at their entrance just for a couple pictures. But, those few pictures are pretty special to me and now I can scratch that off my list.

I can't tell you how many people asked if we were going on a cruise. Trust me, I wish I could be on a ship again. We even looked at some last minute deals since I was already off this week! But this trip is about family, relaxing, and mainly...not working. There really isn't that much planned. We're kind of playing it by ear. Mostly, spending time at this gorgeous house playing in the pool with Boo Boo. We're only a short ride from the Beaches, but even those haven't managed to lure us out of the house very often.
